Bill Windsor's 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Police Car was Sold

Please see additional photos below.

Basic Equipment:  V-8 – 350 cubic inch, 400+ horsepower 4-Speed Hurst Shifter on the floor.  Red Federal “bubblegum-style” flasher, siren, spotlight, Motorola police radio, whip antenna.  1955 Texas license plates.  Old-style lacquer paint.  The car runs GREAT!  Amazing, actually.  I've had the car for three years, and while it may sit for months at a time with no use, it always cranks right up.  I have driven it from Dallas to Atlanta and from Atlanta to Orlando and back several times. We used the car as a display at a restaurant, so the car has been driven very little in the last year. I don't know if the car was an original police car, though I believe the spotlight appears to be original.

Enhancements:  A modern radio has been added, and air-conditioning was installed in 2002.  Seat belts were installed front and back.  A tachometer and additional gauges were installed.  The 350 cubic inch V-8 isn't original, nor is the 4-speed transmission and Hurst shifter.

Exterior:  The exterior is in excellent shape - really solid.  There is a half-dollar-sized spot of rust on the trunk - needs to be sanded and painted.  The car needs a new paint job to look its very best; the lacquer paint isn't looking great - dull.  The decals are vinyl and new within the last three years; they can be easily removed so the car may be customized as you choose.  The chrome is in very good condition.

Interior: The interior is in exceptionally good shape.  The upholstery looks like new, and only the headliner is faded and might be redone redone to be show quality.  The floor carpet is also like new, though I don't believe it is original. The interior light doesn't work, nor does the clock, and the speedometer is erratic. The flasher and siren work great, and the air-conditioner is ice cold in even the hottest of temperatures!

General:  The 55 Chevy is an unbelievable attention getter!  I have never seen anything like the response that it gets from people.  Waves, smiles, thumbs up...wherever you go.  It is truly a joy to drive.  The car is in Atlanta, Georgia, and the buyer is to arrange for shipping, or better yet, come and drive it home.  I bought the car in Dallas, and I drove it back to Atlanta; the trip was one of the most enjoyable times I have ever had. It took quite a while longer than it should because people stopped me at every gas station, restaurant, and motel. I must have seen 1,000 waves and thumbs up, and I had my photograph taken many times - including photos from passing cars as we drove down the highway!
